Can I clean this and get a case for it?

I have posted this medal before, but just now got to thinking about this. Is there a safe way to clean this medal, and is there a way to find out how it was originally boxed and replace that box, or at least something close to it?

IMO it does not need cleaning,I'd leave it alone it looks just great with that patina

I agree with Jon. If you use a commercial cleaner on it, you may "etch" the surface therby removing some of the finer details on the piece. You'll also remove the patina Jon spoke of. There's a lot of controversy about when and when not to clean an item. The only time I'd attempt to clean an item would be if it had been "ground dug" and had a fair amount of verdigris on it, or the piece had spots of "ugly" oxidation on it. Verdigris in time penetrates the metal and will begin to pit the surface. If you feel you must clean it, be sure not to use anything abrasive.
Use a soft cloth and very very gently rub only the highest surfaces. This
will add brighter highlights to the higher areas, but you may get an undesirable result. Cleaning can be tricky.
Different metals react differently to different cleaning techniques.
Practice on less valuable pieces first (if you feel you must clean it).
I wouldn't chance it though. Looks great as is

The patina on this is aplied and should not be cleaned. It could be VERY GENTLY washed in warm soapy water, then rinsed with clean cool water. At this point dry carefully with a hairdrier. Brush with camble hair brush.

I think I will just leave it alone. Not worth the risk. The most I ever did to it was wipe it with a dry soft cloth.

Any ideas on a case or box for it?
