111 tinnies-- should I buy them?

A guy I trade with has a whole grouping of tinnies (many he got from me years ago when I sold out) He has 130. He traded a nice SS one but there are probably 10 or so SA tinnies. Also two leather ones, two glass ones, one copper one and a whole variety. I really haven't looked at them in a while. Of course there are common day badges but there are at least 15 or 20 really nice ones if not super rare. There are not lots of duplicates of the common day badges. Anyway I offered him 500 cash and 500 trade for all the tinnies. He wants to keep 19 of them including only one SA and one leather one and some day badges. Does this sound like too much for a wide variety of tinnies, many of them common? Are people on here or E-bay buying groupings of common tinnies in case I liquidate them? Or is it still hard to move common tinnes (not to mention better ones)? They used to be worth $10 a piece. I heard that new collectors are starting show an interest in them. Have any of you followed the market on tinnies latey? I'm thinking on passing on this deal after he decided to keep 19 (I would have gambled on the 130). Thanks

of course, judging on whether the US$1000 are too much or not is very difficult without acutally seeing what is contained within the lot...re selling common tinnies...in my opinion, this has become very difficult...used to be a lot easier about 5 years ago, but is getting more and more difficult now...I think the market is relatively 'saturated' with those for the time being and people concentrate more on the unusual tinnies. When I sell common day tinnies, I have to come right down with the prices to shift them... I only buy them now in large lots at low prices...otherwise, it is just not worth it, if you want to re-sell them...anyhow, whatever you decide to do, I am sure that it will be the right decision for you... Cheers, Torsten (ebay id German.Militaria).

Well I went ahead and traded for them. I ended up with 115 tinnies including some organizational stick pins. Here are some of them.

                    Dennis,
Not knowing what you paid and or traded for these it's hard to say how you did. Now that being said I believe you have some very nice not often seen pieces here and if your planning on selling them you wont have problem doing so.

Thanks I also have a large amount of common ones that I didn't show. The condition on most aren't perfect but not bad. One has a paper tag still on the back ( large brass one with the church or whatever on it) The small silver one in the top photo with an MM on it is numbered and nicly marked. Does anyone know what that one was for? Also I have two of the Reichpart. tag 1933. I know they are a decent one . Does anyone know the price range for one in fair to decent shape?

I would agree with James, some nice badges amongst them. However I have concerns over the Swedish badges at the bottom of the first pic.

if the needle is solder right on the badge and the manufactur logo sporrong stockholm is on the back they may be ok

These were some the guy picked up -- not the ones I originally had --I'll post pictures of the backs tomorrow -- tell me if you think they're bad

Based on what I see, I think you did OK. There are some scarcer badges in the lot and I think you can certainly recoup your investment depending on what the rest look like. I too have concerns over the Swedish tinnies in the lower part of the first scan. These are heavily reproduced. If you sell any pictured I would certainly like to be counted as a customer!
