        Hi Johnkleim,
for me it's an original early type of SS pin.
The originals items no present markings of RZM;M1/.. or Ges. Gesch. tipical of party pin.
This below, for comparison, it's mine

            Thank you very much!!

I had bought this one as an authentic, from a reputable dealer. A man interested in buying it asked that I get opinions on it as his friend had question as to its actual authenticity.

            Again, thank you!

              John,

Could you post a closer pic of the reverse? Does it have any numbers, ges gesch, and or maker mark? Please advise.

              Thanks,

              John

The reverse has no markings. I've seen SS pins that are the same or similar with no reverse markings, all from reputable dealers. I did substantial research before buying this one sometime back.

I could try another shot, but I'm neither a professional photographer, nor a dealer, so I don't have the equipment for stabilizing the camera and avoiding blurriness...I get lucky on some shots.

                  Last Call

Last Call for authenticity opinions on this item...my potential buyer and I are puzzled at the lack of opinions offered.

I hereby promise and declare I won't sue you if you honestly believe and say it's a fake.

I think it is a reproduction of an SS Zivilabzeichen. The SS civilian badges were made by two companies:Hoffstatter of Bonn made most of them and Gahr produced some silver examples. They never bore RZM marks as the production was a private contract with the SS and badges could only be acquired by SS members. I don't know what research you did before you bought yours, but most older references including articles in The Military Advisor point out these facts. Dealers selling these unmarked examples as original are uninformed.

                      Thanks for the info!

This hobby is sometimes very frustrating...I guess I can probably rack this up to a big "burn."

one dead giveaway to the repros is the outer ring not being thicker than the inner ring..most miss that...

All SS member pins were maker marked & numbered.
