    Going by your pictures the cross looks good, but as I have never seen a early cross and case I can't say anything about the case

      Your mothers cross II class looks okay to me. Its a 1st patern cross that was produced between 16 Dec 38 to mid 1939. After mid 1939 the inscription simply read "16 Dezember 1938" and Hitlers signature.

      I am not an expert on cases, however, it is my understanding that only the I class was cased. The II and III classes were presented in paper packets. I'm not sure what award your case belongs to.

          I think the inscriptio is not as the examples I have seen. Also the silver 1st pattern came in a box with the emblem in silver. I would be very carful with this medal particularly as it is in a spourious box
