    Gollheim city official's chain

Here is an item I am looking to get, but I can't find any information.
I would like to know who was that for ... anything else about it and a proximate $$$.

    Thanks
    Alik

To me it looks like a chain for a mayor, the city sign on the bottom with the name of the city.

    Can't think of something else.

Hi Alik, I have never seen an item like this for sale before so it is very hard to even guess a "value".

I thought I would just post this link for you which shows the towns coat of arms:

      Cheers, Ade.

I've seen one once, the starting bid was 200 EUR, do not know for what price it was sold.

Just found in 1997 Manions catalog auction#190, mayors(burgermeister) of Leipzig silver neck chain, marked 835, starting bid was $8500 .
...is that so high because it's silver ?
Now I'm completely lost in $$$

These chains come up from time to time. Each Town council had one so in theroy they will be relativly common. As to price that for a small unimportant town would be very little, for a major City, the price would be far greater. Lipzig would be very desirable, linked to historical persons and events. "HICKS VILLE", ??????

AS TO SILVER, THIS IS NOT AN EXPENSIVE METAL AND WAS EXTENSEFLY USED. It was easy to work and enamel. Also most currencey was in silver. UK did not drop silver until 1947.

I agree, the bigger the city/town, the higher the price will be.

Here is the picture I found in one of the books,
the links are the same as the ones on my chain and it's written that is the
honor chain not mayors chain, does anyone know the difference and what the honor chains are given for, there is not much details about it in that book.
