DJ pin, but whay is it???

I have this pin, have any of you guys seen it before?

    Who used these, and when?
What is the value on a pin like this?

Allmost looks like a Jagermeister logo

      Dj badge

Hi and nice badge which mirrors one in my collection, as far as I am aware it is a hunting association badge of which Herman Goering was president. I also have a large Hunting licence which also shows this emblem, if you wish a scan of it please post me your email address and i'll happily send you a scan. Regards Paul

Indeed it is a membership badge for the Deutsche Jägerschaft. Here's mine to compare.

          Cheers

Any significance to the fact that color of Sverri's badge is silver/aluminum and the color of Don's badges are in bronze/brass?

I believe that the Aluminium ones are later, wartime issue, whereas mine are made of Nickel & are from an earlier timeframe.

                    Cheers

                      Don,

nice collection of DJ badges! I also believe, that the aluminum badges are lat-war items, while the Nickel items are early ones. I have a "Jagdaufseher" (game warden) badge which is also made of aluminum (marked on the back with HOFFSTÄTTER BONN").

                      Regarding the mid-size badge:

Indeed it is a membership badge for the Deutsche Jägerschaft
No, this is no member's badge. It's a badge for "Jagdschutz-Berechtigte", that means, for persons only having the allowance to carry out the game protection duty. These persons had to wear the badge on the hat and had to have a special ID card (Ausweis) to carry with 'em while on hunting. I have such an ID card, but I am not allowed here to post images.

                      Regards

                      Martin

                        Hi Martin

Thank you for the clarification & extra information on the mid size badge. How about the small stickpin & button hole versions? Are they also for Jagdschutz-Berechtigte?

If you wish I can post the image for you, PM me for my email if you want me to do it.

                        Cheers
                        Don

                          Hi Don,

sorry, forgot to exlain the stickpin! The stickpin (and button hole variation? Haven't seen one yet) is the only member's badge to be worn by any member of the DJ, also by the Jagdschutz-Berechtigte.

                          Regards

                          Martin

                            Hi Martin,

Thanks, so to clarify (sorry, I'm getting old ) the small stickpin & button hole version (I have one, I'll post an image for you tonight) are members badges, whereas the mid size are not?

                            Cheers
                            Don

                              Hi Don,

to clarify it (or to cause even mor confusion):

yes the stickpin (and button hole version) are members badges (every member of the DJ was allowed to wear it), while the mid-size badges were restricted (? right term?) to those DJ members who were allowed to execute the game protection service.

                              Regards

                              Martin
