    HJ Tinnie

Who can tell me a bit more about this porcelain HJ tinnie.
I have seen this tinnie several times before in previous posts, but the only thing I know about it, is that it is HJ tinnie.
What does the date mean for example? Mine has a number on the back (12) what does this mean, and is this normal?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

    HJ tinnie

    Hello Pascal,

sorry you went so long without a response,I checked my book and all it said about this tinnie was that its a common ceramic HJ donation badge(this info is from Foxhole tinnie guide #1),Im assuming to fund some kind of HJ outing our gathering.

One reference work (Heering-Huesken) identifies it as the winner's badge for the 1934 Hitler Youth Reich Sports Competitionn.. Presumably the date was the date of the competition. The book also shows examples of the winner's badge for 1935 through 1944. All of the later badges were made of aluminum. If the reference is accurate than this pin is more than a donation pin.

I just checked my 1934 badge and it has the number "3" on the reverse. I assume that this is a maker's mark. I also have the pins from 1935, 1937 and 1944. The first two are aluminum, but the 1944 pin is plastic. Thus I assume that some of the other war year pins may also be plastic vice aluminum. The 1935 and 1937 pins have maker's names and addresses on the revsrse, the 1944 pin is plain.

Ken is correct--in my book it show the pin and pins listed as "Participation and Donation badges of Sports events of the Hitler Youth" The 3 on the back is most likely a maker mark--Nice pinback. Mike

                Hi all,

I have been searching for the remaining years of 1942-1943 of these tinnies. Anyone selling them? Or can point me in the right direction to finding them.
