        Its the old flag of the German Reich. Introduced by Bismarck after 1871 to replace the black-red-gold banner of the 1848 revolution...not sure exactly where the colours come from, but it is either a combination of Prussian black-white with the Brandenburg red-white or with the red-white of the Hanse Cities (Hamburg, Luebeck, etc.). In 1919, the Weimar Republik government voted to change back to the revolutionary black-red-gold and your pin is very likely to be a WW1 patriotic pin. Cheers, Torsten.
