SA Sportabzeichen in cloth

An SA Sportabzeichen in cloth was given to me by the family of a German police officer. It had been cut from some type of garment, but the family wasn't sure what. The cloth badge is finely embroderied in white thread almost like silk, and has been sewn to a black cloth garment that feels very light in weight. The officer was a member of the SS, and had an SS dagger. Can anyone tell me what type of garment that the badge may have been on? The family gave me a photograph of the officer in uniform with his Sportabzeichen in wear, but it appears to be the metal version. In the photograph it is hard to tell for sure. The family does not remember ever seeing him have the metal Sports badge.

I don't know how to post photos.

How common is the cloth version of the Sportabzeichen?

Williwo, thank you for posting your Sportabzeichen, and for giving me your opinion about mine. I have a group police school photo of the man shown wearing the Sportabzeichen. I also have his Wehrpass showing a listing for the Sportabzeichen and a Class III Führerschien. The family of this man gave me a proofing certificate showing that he had also fulfilled all requirments for the DRL sport badge except for the swimming test. Along with the certificate was another group photo of several men all wearing gym clothes with the DRL loggo. They appear to have posed for the photo before or after some sort of competion. Incidentally this police officer was a member of the Geheime Staatspolizei, survived the war, and lived to age 84. He died in 1993.
