Lowest SA Sports Badge Award Number...........

Hi Guys, which of you out there has the SA SPorts Badge with the lowest Award Number?? Here is my offering, an Ausbildungswesen model made by Lauer with award number 5597. Incidently, what would say, is this a Silver or Bronze issue? Cheers, Torsten.

Hi Torsten, I would say it is a bronze going from the small amounts you can see in places? Sorry I cannot compete with a four digit number mine is a five digit.

        Cheers, Ade.

Ade, thank you for your reply...I am still not sure about whether it is Bronze or Silver, but I am leaning more towards the Bronze,...but I am still hoping it might be Silver... Cheers, Torsten.

Toby, that's a beauty with a jeweler-added locking device on the pin.

@ Ron - glad you like it. It is indeed a beautiful example.

@ Torsten - alas, I sold it . Such is my luck that I subsequently decided to collect sports items. I do know where it is thought and hope someday to tempt the present owner to return it. It came with a mint stickpin mini too.

                      Best,
                      Toby.

Excuse my question here, but is the 2541 a known original badge???

it does look different from the Lauer badge that I showed to start of this thread...the catch mounting is different, the leters are les pronounced, etc...I do not know but I would have thought there will have been some variations in the manufacture of these over the years or have you seen a badge with the characteristics of number 2541 identified as non-original somewhere? I think number 2541 is original....Cheers, Torsten.

Here are some more pics of "2541" - I too noticed the reverse oakleaves on mine had more detail than the others - what I'm used to seeing on these. Mine is a bronze piece - don't know if that makes a difference or not.
