    Unusual SA Sports Badge

    Hi Guys,.

I do have a number of SA Sports Badges and most of the carry either the standard 'Eigentum d. Chefs d. Ausbildungswesen' or the standard 'Eigentum DSA Sportabz. Hauptstelle' on the back, but then I have three badges which are all made by W. Redo, that say 'Eigentum d. Obersten SA Fuehrung' on the back. I am quite sure the three badges are original, but I cannot find any reference anywhere for that variation...does anyone know any more about it and abot what it means in terms of the award significance? Any help and opinions are most welcome....Cheers, Torsten.

PS: I have attached sample pics for a silver one of the third type.

There are four different badges with other inscription on the backside:

        SA-Sportabzeichen Typ 1

        EIGENTUM D. CHEFS D. AUSBILDUNGSWESENS

        ......

        SA-Sportabzeichen Typ 2

        EIGENTUM D.S.A. SPORTABZ. HAUPTSTELLE

        .....

        SA-Wehrabzeichen Typ 1

        EIGENTUM D. OBERSTEN SA-FÜHRUNG

        .....

        SA-Wehrabzeichen Typ 2

        without inscription

        Hope this help.

The picture show a very fine original SA-Sportabzeichen Typ 2!

Thank you very much.... That totally answers my questions...I was not really aware of this slight difference between the Sportabzeichen and the Wehrabzeichen...but the one I am showing then is the SA-Wehrabzeichen Type 1 in Silver...Cheers, Torsten.

To add a little more to williwo's information the (S.A. SPORTABZEICHEN) first came out as a Simi-official badge in 1934 it was limited only to S.A. and party members. In 1935 Hitler gave it official status and opened it up to all Aryan Germans that could pass the test. The 1st issue EIGENTUM D. CHEFS D. AUSBILDUNGSWESENS (Property of the Chief of Training Staff) 1934 to 1935.
The 2nd issue EIGENTUM D. S.A. SPORTABZ. HAUPTSTELLE (Property of the S.A. Sports Badge Main Office) 1935 to 1938
In 1939 the name was changed from S.A. SPORTABZEICHEN to S.A. WEHRABZEICHEN (Military Sports Badge)
The 3rd issue EIGENTUM D. OBERSTEN SA-FÜHRUNG (Property of the S.A. Supreme Command) 1939 to the end.
In 1943 a special badge was instituted and named
S.A. WEHRABZEICHEN für KRIEGSVERSEHRTE (S.A. Military Sports Badge for War Wounded.)

Not had any numbered SA sports badges in for a while and just got this Eigentum der SA Sportabzeichen Hauptstelle with number 678280 in and thought I'd show it here to compliment the other one I showed some years ago. Cheers, Torsten.
