It's a scarce one, but until yet, I didn't find something about it. May be that it is for Kriegsmarine dockyard workers inside the DAF.

      Reinhard,

I agree. My thoughts were - Kreigsmarine production of artillery shells for the KM, since it looks like the body of the piece is an artillery shell, in an anchor.

It reminds me of the rare U-Boat builders badges with the DAF logo.
      Could be a rare piece?

          No expert,
but the German Dockyard Workers U boat Badge is similar. Agree with Reinhard. I couldn’t remember the name of that badge, but is the dockyard workers.

Here’s a thread that has one. There are better pictures- but this will show you what it looks like. It’s a rare late-war stickpin with a U-boat in a cogwheel.

IMO: Naval artillerist on board of Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF) ships

This is a good theory too, Glaser.
Didn’t some of the DAF ships have disguised artillery onboard, or is that a myth. Besides the cannon for firing bow lines and such?

DAF ships have been fitted with undisguised guns during the war, mostly anti-aircraft.

Thanks Glaser! I hadn’t even thought about the DAF ships after the war was declared. I had heard some story about disguised artillery pre-war.

With the stickpin version Pete posted, this is a very interesting item indeed....

Here are the Kreigsmarine Coastal Artillery insignia.

Glaser’s opinion sounds even better. These DAF pins must be much more rare. Just IMO.
