    Gau Badge Berlin 1926 -1936

    Hi
I will appreciate your comments on this badge

It's a fake. The eagles head looks more like a duck.

In your opinion is fake because the eagle looks like a duck ?

Not just that. Take a look at Ron's piece and you will see the features which should also be present.

              Citation is awesome.

the Eagles are design-wise no real winners but you see the better quality of Ron's example.

With all due respect, I cannot agree. I have posted many times the fact that Dr. Doehle illustrates the identical badge as the Berlin Gau Badge in his book at page 85. It is a round headed eagle, not the flat head of the SA, given as a Honor Badge. I have maintained that the badge was redesigned by the Berlin Gau to be given to worthy Berliners for war work. It could be that when the 1943 edition was being prepared, there was no original flat headed 1936 badge for the artist to work with, and all that was on hand was the redesigned round headed eagle.

Any member who has either the 1943 edition or the 1945 edition can see for himself.

These are originals in my opinion.

Those of you who have the book(s) please explain why the Berlin Gau Badge has the "duck headed" eagle, and not the flat head SA eagle.

Good point, well presented but if you look at the drawing in Doehle he gets other features right which are missing on the obverse of the one posted (the number "1" in "1936" and the stippling behind the swas for example).

Apart from that it looks "soft".

What is the size and weight of the badge in question?

I also have one with a number over 600 and it has the same shape as the one from Ron !
