Plastic HJ badge

I was given a little black plastic badge that looks like a HJ Achievement badge but mini. It is about the overall size of a quarter and rzm marked m1/36. I was wondering if anyone else has one like this or is it a fantasy item. I will try and post some photos soon.

Hi Jason.

What you have is a Hitler Youth Proficiency Badge lapel miniature. These were accompanied with the full sized award. Leistungsabzeichen der Hitler Jugend were awarded in black, bronze and silver.

Here is an example of a full sized award, measuring 51x30mm in bronze.

Hi Jason.

They are not rare to attain if that is what you mean. They were introduced by RJF Baldur Schirach effective 1 May 1934. These were to provide the youth with incentives and record their progress in a Leistungsabzeichen book. The early badges were RZM stamped with maker and serial numbered. The second series were replacement badges marked with a "B" and RZM logo. The HJ later introduced the S series, again with serial numbers.

The mini's are a bit harder to find, but not rare.
