Help With State Building Brass Door Push

    Hi All
the seller says these state doorpushes are original and he has had them for 40 years, i know the dealer Nicholas Morigi sold some of these a few years ago as restrikes ie copys from the original dies that where found, these do look well used and old is there anyway of telling the difrence between a original and a restrike???

    hope you can help

Hi Robert, we talked about these a few weeks ago. I feel very strongly that they are actually fantasy items. The seller might not be lying when we says he has had them 40 years. I recall all the fake sellers here in the UK had them back in the mid 1970's at £5 each.

I would never buy one as an original item.

    Cheers, Ade.

I was at an antiques fair about 7 years ago, and saw a pair of these.
the dealer wanted £70.00, but never having seen anything like them before I was dubious. They did not have the Patina I would have expected from old items, nor did they have any tell-tale signs of cleaning.
      I'm glad I gave them a miss.
