    Guidon Pin?

Can anyone out there clarify what this is? Is it cavalry oriented? I've seen them in different colours, but I'm particularly interested in this one because there's a 'desk flag' in a local dealer's shop that is identical (approx 10X15cm). Hilfe!

Tony--how big is the flag? There is a series of standards that are from the WHW series. That is what yours looks like. What is it made out of? Mike

The image is not the flag, I was using it as an illustration as I found it on the net. The flag the dealer has is identical in design to the image and beautifully embroidered & fringed on double thickness bunting materiel. It is tied by tassles on a based 'pole' approx 30-40cms high. It is clearly a desk ornament of sorts.
Winter Help Relief? Not quite a cavalry division then? Anyhow, he wants £100 for it. Rather optimistic methinks.

It is not WHW then--sounds like a mini Swallow tail standard flag. I have no idea if they had them for desk ornaments. If the flag is red that you are looking at then it is for artillery. Sorry I miss understood you. Mike

That's precisely what it is - a mini-swallowtail standard - in red 'waffenfarbe'. So it could be a simple arm of service standard maybe? It is of the same design & colour as the tinnie pictured. Anyone else any ideas?

Mike, first off your correct in your identifing the flag Tony used to illustrate his question as one of several Wehrmacht plastic flags sold by the WHW. Tony it does sound like something found on a desk top. What does the dealer have to say as to what it is?

I'm still looking for some of these little flags, I've a few doubles for swaps if anyone has the ones I don't have and is interested.

The dealer hasn't got a clue, but I told him I'd seen the design somewhere before - and that 'somewhere before' was on these WHW tinnies, so it must be something to do with winter relief. Still, it looks pretty spiffing, although £100 is a bit steep, non?

Tony, The flag you are seeing at the dealers has nothing to do with the WHW.. Most likely it sat on the desk of a Artillerie reg. comander's office. The small plastic flag pins repersenting the different branches of the Wehrmarcht were sold by the HJ for the WHW to raise money for social welfare.

Cheers chap. That makes a lot of sense.
