Todd, this badge appears on the forum from time to time with no conclusive determination on real or fantasy. They are excellently constructed badges with very good enamel work. I have seen several and all but yours also had a unique number engraved on the back as if they were handed out in limited numbers to specific recipients. The problem with this badge is that there are is no documented evidence that they existed or what their purpose may have been.

It is a much nicer and higher quality constructed badge than the usual fake Kampfrichter badges so often seen and sold by the famous dealer out of Cave Creek, AZ. No one can authenticate these as I have not heard of a direct vet acquired one or seen any photos with them in use. However no one has any indication that these were recently manufactured and there isn't a huge number of them out there. I have one that I obtained in the 70's so these have been around for quite some time.

I'll see if I can post a scan of mine sometime this weekend so that you can see the number on the back. Yours is the first I have seen without one. Yours also differs in the pin attachment and the lettering in the makers mark from all the others I have seen. Here is a link from a previous discussion. This is the type I have seen up to now.

All I can add with this particular badge is that it has a pin keeper that is found on modern badges. These thin oval ones with the flat ends are seen a lot on fakes.

        Cheers

Thanks Don and Richard. It appears this is one to stay away from.

you are correct....imo......though the other pin shown in the other thread has it spelled the same....
as well as Don about the lack of desireability with seeing pin attachement hardware like this...
