DJ badge manufacturing process

A few years ago a friend of mine working in Germany purchased these and last weekend I bought most of them from him. They are in several stages of the manufacturing process up to the finished item. I assume either the war or the contract ran out before these were finished. There are quite a lot of finished ones quite tarnished but clean up well and I will be putting some of these on E stand. I just thought I would check with you guys to see what you make of them before I did this. The DJ badges are marked RZM single circle and 72, the HJ badges are marked RZM double circle B m1/122. Your input would be appreciated

I don't know about the DJ badges (although I feel there's guilt by association), but the HJ badges have the "BM1/122" RZM mark, which IMHO never existed, making these fake.

All RZM license prefixes consisted of a single letter (M=Metall, L=Leder, B=Baumwolle, etc.). There is nothing in the RZM regs that describes a "BM" prefix. It is a known repro mark for HJ badges with oakleaves.

thats what i thought but the guy swears they are ok and i have seen the original box he had the dj badges in. marked up the same as the djs on a paper lable stuck to the side of the box and a second label on the tisue paper covering the dj badges but i have not seen any other packing for the hjs

I'd expect to see some oxidation of the copper base if they are 60 years old (older because the DJ RZM mark "72" would date it from 1934).

I also wonder about the buttonhole attachment. Very few 10 year olds wear a suit so his DJ badge could be worn on the lapel.

Any chance of a picture of the box?

Stephen, That's good to know. I have a question. I have a chance to acquire a Hj Golden Party pin. Would you know of a good site to check to help me autenticate?? It has been oferred to me for $250. Good price?? Also, is there a way to trace the serial number on the reverse. He will 100% guarantee it so should I send it off to Herr Niemann for him to look at?? Any and all opinions are welcome.
