    Orts level Armband

I am looking at buying this off of the E-stand, and would like opinions, as I am not much of an arm band expert

Thanks in advance for all responses

It looks fine to me. The edging is attached with a characteristic stitch and I can see the faint black arrow on the reverse with "Oben" for "This Way Up".

Okay, let me play devil's advocate. Riddle me this?

Why is the gold piping around the white disc and swastika so bright and shiny and unworn when the other piping looks worn and dingy ?

The center pip looks properly worn and dingy but it doesn't match the piping of the circle and swastika. The gold piping along the top and bottom of the oakleaf band which would have been embroidered about the same time looks worn and dingy.

Different material - the dark one has metal thread and has oxidized, the bright one is rayon or artificial silk.

Okay, that's a good answer and it makes sense. However, why would they use two different types of gold thread? Wouldn't it be more reasonable that they would use just one type of gold thread for all of the piping?

I suspect it is because the metallic thread doesn't bend as well and is better for straight lines (tough to work with around all the points of the swastika). The armband material is made in a long roll with the edges & centre stripe already done (or the centre stripe is done in a separate long roll and added). The swastika disk is added last and then edged.

That's the best I can do. Otherwise you'll have to ask the guy on the factory floor.

No question is boneheaded - only the answers!

By the way, I notice a Kreisleiter armband in a current thread with wire all the way around the swastika, and it has frayed showing how fragile it is. Probably wire because of the higher rank.
