Don,
I checked out the thread...interesting.
Thanks again for your help.
not saying anything ontoward...but it is somewhat of a coincidence that both badges have the same numerals, just in a different order... probably just all it is: coincidence... Cheers, Torsten.

Torsten,
I was thinking the same thing! Thanks.
Also, I found a possible reference to this badge in Tieste's book (under Landsberg) but there is no picture.
John, If I was a gambling man I'd say it was good, more of a gut reaction. But it appears a clean strike, with crisp lettering. This makes me think if it were faked then someone has gone to some trouble to at least make one of good quality. Plus if it were faked then it would require an influx of them on to the market to reap any money back, and I would have thought it would be better to fake something more in demand. On the flipside there doesn't seem much a reference to them anywhere. And the switched numerals is a bit suspect.
Richarddwh,
Thanks for your astute observations. It does look pretty clean doesn't it?
The boxing of the numbers is in fact suspect. Appreciate your input.
Yes, this is a period piece. Landsberg was an airbase for the Luftwaffe in southern Germany (located on B10 between Augsberg and Munich) and this piece is a security id badge for workers to obtain access to and from the base.
I was stationed in Landsberg in the '70's (very fond memories) and I have an exact badge but different number. I received the badge from a WAF member.
