I have never seen this backing. Can somebody tell me if this is usual? Thanks in advance.

This is a buttonhole attachment. I think these fetch a little more than the usual pin-on models. Shame about the damage to the enamel.

Nice Badge is there a M1/ number under the button attachment? If you look in the NSDAP membership database thread you will find several badges with this type of attachment.
