    1st class German eagle order

Can I please get some opinions on this medal? It belongs to a friend and is a little beyond my expertise. There is a 2 on the side? It’s marked 900 & 21 for godet I believe. Thanks again, Kamil

Thank you so you know which type? The eagle doesn’t seem to match type 1 or 2? And is facing the wrong way?

There is no doubt in my mind that the eagle in your cross is a Godet, but I do not see it illustrated in that post.

Cool award can't you just turn the award around, then its facing the same way ?
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

                    Totally agree with Peter.

That marking "2" indicates that it was part of the whole Order with a star (6-pointed star + neck order), second category from 1937 to 1945.

It is a model manufactured by Godet & Sohn in the period 1943-1945 where the categories were as follows:

                    -Grand Cross (8 Pointed star+SASH)
-1St Eagle Order (8 pointed star+SASH with white central line)
                    -2Nd Eagle Order (6 pointed star+Neck Order)
-3Rd Eagle Order (Neck Order only)
-4Th Eagle Order (Brust cross with needle)
-5Nd Eagle Order (Enameled cross with ribbon)
                    -Silver Medal
                    -Bronce Medal

You cannot compare eagles of a Neck Order with images of eagles of a fourth class (cross attached to the chest with a needle) ... there are small differences.

As for the opposite side, it only indicates that the neck order shows the opposite side ... these decorations are enameled on both sides.

Thanks everyone for your opinion, my friend feels comfortable selling it now. He’s asking $1500 if anyone is interested
