    Many thanks

    James

    Hi James,

the 30 mm ones are original, the small one is not. It´s the socalled "Austrian fake".

    Kind Regards

Sorry but I must disagree. IMO both of these GPBs are fake. The small Fuess-marked badge is an example of "the Austrian Fake," as Wim and Max stated, and the large Deschler is also a fake, though to go into detail as to why such a badge is a fake acts as fuel to those who create such things, and none of us benefits from helping them do that.

I will send you a further comment by PM.

The two large badges are real, and the small Fuess is a fake. The large badges have all the right characteristics of originals, including font of numbers, small details of the pinplate, and lettering. The small Fuess has the regular computer font lettering on the front instead of the genuine irregular letters and the pinplate has the telltale tall "C" of fakes.

Thank you Gentlemen for your comments. I thought the Fuess must be the Austrian fake even though the auction company selling it is saying it is real. The other two, 30 mm ones, I am still unsure about. Br James, I have received your PM and will ask for a better picture of the front of both.

Herman Historica is selling a lot of high value items but it seems that much of it is questionable.

                Hi Andreas,

I'm sorry to say that I have no idea what you mean here?! Your knowledge of electronic media is obviously much better than mine is!

                Your friend as always,

                  Hi JamesT,

Hermann Historica always offers a wide selection of often top-shelf artifacts, but in the end it is up to each of us, as historians, collectors and customers, to have the knowledge to judge each item for ourselves. Over the decades I have participated in this wonderful hobby -- almost 60 years -- I have purchased items from some of the best-known dealers in their times, and decades later I have found that some of that material was fake. I don't blame the dealer for selling fake artifacts, as it is always up to me to say "yes" or "no" to any item, and sometimes a dealer is trusting to his own experience...which may be inferior to mine in that area of collecting!

                  Cheers,

                  Br. James

What is the problem of discussing this before the purchase? Is this an auction? Have you bought this already?
