The Träger's name was Paul Krickemeyer -- the spelling was corrected in the DALs of 1935 and later. Nice piece.

        Br. James

I agree. This is a fake badge.

It appears that an attempt was made to 'erase' the lower half of this badge's reverse -- we've seen this before, where it is assumed that the original holder of the badge sought to eliminate his/her NSDAP Membership Number.

Steve, I don't understand how you can take a decent photo of the obverse, yet the images of the reverse you post are worthless. Did you look at the last image before you posted it? It is useless.

It looks like there are striations diagonally on the reverse suggesting an attempt to remove the number as Br. James suggests, but why? If you want to eliminate your number/connection to the NSDAP, destroy the badge. Very strange to me. And yet the pin and plate are intact over the striations. Makes me uncomfortable with this badge.

Well if you look at all the military tunics out there with the tailor labels and the laundry tags ripped out, it makes sense to me,,,I will attempt to take the ultimate photo of the back, you could easily remove markings without hitting the pin assembly. Under magnification you can see traces of the ges gesch as well
