    skiing badge NEED HELP

    Hello guys

Just recently picked up this strange badge. Don't know anything about it.
Searched the net but couldn't find any like it. Found it listed in Niemann's

catalog but no pics to compare to it. Sure need some help with this.
    Appreciate any thoughts.

If it is original it is rare and expensive but I do not have the expertise/knowledge to render an opinion on whether or not it is original.

101% Fake. Sorry. It is a Gendarmerie Hochalpinist Badge.

Thanks Fred and AntiqueWW2 for your reply. Guess I'll just have to take
my lumps and put it on the bazzar. Must be worth something.
I'll keep looking for a web site to see what an original looks like.

I am sure Niemann's listed it as a police badge, or perhaps you recognized the eagle as police or that Gendarmerie is rural police? Then it would have been easier to check the police forum and use "Alpinist" as a search word. You would have found a few pictures of these fakes and some of original badges.

You're correct Gordon. I had forgotten the extent of my discussion with the chief. You must become a member of the forum to view the thread which is worthwhile as there are some excellent informative threads.
