It looks fine -- I have an almost-identical SA Standard Bearer's Gorget in my collection, made by the firm of Willy Annetsberger of Munich.

          Cheers,

          Br. James

James, can you post a picture of your gorget, please? I would be interested especially in details of the points at the gilt star.

Here’s the detail of the gorget shown in this thread.

              Hi Ingo,

I'm very sorry to say that I have neither the capacity or the technical ability to post photos... Otherwise I would be happy to oblige.

That said, I don't quite understand what you're interested in when you say: "...in details of the points at the gilt star." Can you say more about this, my friend?

Again, sorry that I can't oblige,

              Br. James

It looks 100% fine to me and is in very fine condition. The details of the star points do vary somewhat from maker to maker, as do some other details. Wim Saris also noted this in his gorget book.

That‘s what I was wondering, Erich. Thanks for your statement.

I’ve owned a couple of SA gorgets over the time and never had one with such “long” star points, as the one shown here.

The star points on my gorgets are shorter. Here’s a side to side comparison.

Left: the SA gorget of this thread
Right: one of the gorgets I’ve owned (as I said I had a handful more gorgets with exactly the same design)

That’s why I was wondering if this is a legit one.

Thanks for the clarification, Ingo. I hadn't noticed that there is a disparity in the sun rays among the manufacturers of the SA Gorget; as I said, my example is the same as the one which began this thread, also by the firm of Willy Annetsberger of Munich.
