Yes. Personnel on the staff of an SA-Gruppe wore a collar patch with the abbreviation of the Gruppe's name. (Like "Om" for Ostmark, "Ost" for Ostland, "BO" for Bayerische Ostmark, "Nm" for Nordmark etc.)

Actually, the collar patch in the first photo has no connection to that role... As the adjutant of the commander of the 8th Standarte, he would have worn a collar patch with an "8".
However, the collar patch with the "I/8" seen in the second photo is what he would have worn as the adjutant to the commander of the 8th Standarte's 1st Sturmbann.

Read the page in post 1. I quoted from the document where it is said Middelburg near Eutin (Ostholstein). Eutin was part from brigade 14 (Ostholstein).
Middelburg is not mentioned these days in "Der Grosse Autoatlas", nor is it mentioned in the Postleitzahlenbuch

The "Middelburg bei Eutin" in question is part of the municipality of Süsel which is part of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Eutin in Schleswig Holstein. It is located within the area covered by SA-Gruppe Nordmark at the time.

(No connection to the other Middelburg which is part of the former municipality of Kirchdorf, which in turn is now incorporated into the city of Aurich in Lower Saxony.)

The man next to Rossel in the first picture, is the Führer der Gruppe Ostmark Arno Manthey.

Terje: drop me line, because I think I have some interesting information to share.\

Hey Laurens, I was waiting for you, as I am sure you (as the man with real SA knowledge) have information in your files about Rossol.

Gentlemen, I am humble and grateful to all the information you possess.

I have had a good overview of his military career, but there have been major gaps in his SA career.

Several of the photos and documents I have shared here have appeared in recent years, after my mother passed away in 2015. I will eventually make a summary of the information I have received from you.

I have Luftwaffe in Norway and Royal Norwegian Air Force 1940-45 as my main knowledge and collector's fields.

Here the last SA related picture and one of him as an infantery oberleutnant der reserve.

The uniform and collar patches were worn by personnel at the schools and camps of the SA's Chef AW. One lace bar is for a Hilfsgruppenführer. Another example of such a collar patch (with two bars for a Gruppenführer) can be found here: https://antique-photos.com/en/mainga...-127-1929.html
Well I was at least in the ballpark with what I thought. I knew it was an instructor of some sort. Thank you for the clarification.

Laurens has provided me with very valuable information, I did not know existed with regards to my Grandfather. I do now understand some of the trouble my Grandmother had getting war pension after 1945 due to his membership in SA

Laurens kindly approved in me sharing the documentation he provided.

This is why I said in post 21 Laurens to be the "man with real SA knowledge".
I think we all must give Laurens a "feather in the cap" and he deserves a sincere pat on the back!
I hope Laurens one day will bring out a book, a book I am waiting for for years!!

Definitely! I have a large amount of SA material (too much, actually!), including many period references, but have not been able to find anything like Laurens' amassed archives, data, and amazing information. The more I put together for an SA reference book, the more I realized was missing from my archives and was unobtainable here. Quite frustrating--at every turn, it seems, I find the existence of some series of period publications that might be helpful but which cannot be found here.
So, Laurens, you're our only hope!

In the letter my Opa wrote in the Kriegsblätter der SA.-Gruppe Oder , he is referring to GU.-Seitschrift and GU.-Männer. Does the GU abbreviation mean Gruppe- i.e.
                              Gruppe Seitschrift and Gruppe manner?

Assuming this attachment may be of interest. I have loads of documentation about ancestors in that matter - he had to prove that everyone in the family was of Aryan descent.

It doesn't say "GU"; it's "SA".
