According to Saris and Halcomb's Headgear book, the brown leather SA pattern chin strap was worn until about 1932. There are many photographs showing this.

I do have this Niedersachsen one, but not sure if it's early enough (I'm aware the armband is wrong and do have a correct one for it)...

I saw that last week. You dont even have to know much abour SA to see that that piping is wrong. And Im pretty sure I've seen that shirt somewhere before.

As requested, here is the pic of the tunic that sold on ebay with the fake piping ($638).

                  Shirt

With early tabs, bi-color piping, and silver buttons, the shirt is trying to be from SA Gruppe Westmark.
My guess is it was originally a stripped shirt with only the buttons.
Unit tab is more likely to be a Niedersachsen tab and it's possible the rank tab was blank, with the silver pips possibly added to match the buttons. Niedersachsen's Standarte 16 is the most encountered unit tab out there......
Whereas Westmark tabs are fairly scarce IMO.
Notice the indentation above the rank tab, suggesting a different or larger tab resided there.
These clowns who sell SA stuff on ebay with an F.U. attitude need to be reported and threatened with fraud charges like that schmuck in Colorado making fake tabs.

I also have this pair of pants and tie, are these appropriate for an early SA shirt and Kepi?

                        Tie

It looks like the silk tie that goes with the winter tunic, but they usually have a pleat at one edge on the bottom.
It could be just an anomoly, but the reverse of tie is unusual, plus the RZM tag is usually machine-sewn into the seam.

The RZM tag says for whom the tie was: political leaders as well as DAF.

Also, the tie for the brownshirt was supposed to be made of fabric that matched the shirt's fabric and color.
I don't remember seeing an RZM label tacked to a tie like this before--it seems that the label would be torn off after the tie was untied a few times.
