      Hi Francesco,

You present a nice tablespoon bearing Eva Braun's special monogram designed for her by Albert Speer. A lot of tableware bearing variations of this monogram have turned up following the war, in a variety of silverware patterns. I've checked the work of Dr. Mark Griffith and James Yannes, who both offer a variety of photos of Braun's attributed artifacts, but neither of their reference books include her tableware bearing her monogram on this pattern. I also checked Dr. John K. Lattimer's "Hitler's Fatal Sickness," which also includes photos of related tableware, but this pattern is no present there, either.

On the positive side, this pattern in both silver plate (as this piece is) and in solid silver are present in other collections of period tableware, so we can be sure that it existed during the TR period. And we also know that Eva Braun received many personal gifts of silverware bearing this monogram, just as Hitler himself and many of the other prominent Nazi and military leaders received such gifts bearing their initials and logos. This was a common means of acknowledging birthdays and many other special events in the recipients' lives.

What would be of interest in the case of this piece would be any provenance offered by the source.

Is this Solid Silver or Silver Plate? It is referred to as both in the discussion above.

The spoon in discussion is silver plated, as indicated in the photos of the piece's reverse handle shown in note #1.

What I was referring to in my previous comment was the overall pattern design, which exists in both silver plate and solid silver as seen in other examples elsewhere.

Hope this is helpful; with apologies for any misunderstanding.

Save your money. Unless you have a photo or strong provenance of the GI removing it from the Berghof or her place in Munich, it's worthless. I wish this wasn't so, but Snyder basically destroyed the market by churning out fakes by the bucketload. Sorry, I wish I could be more positive about this stuff.

                Spoon

Without either provenance or DNA testing , there are two far more likely scenarios than it having belonged to Eva Braun.......
                1. Someone embellished a plain spoon with her initials.
                2. Elaine Berkowitz's stolen silverware has finally been located.
Also, IMO the engraving is somewhat sloppy.
Just like the myriads of vintage silver items with fancy SS embellishments, items like this will not likely give you pleasure in the long run.......just lots of uncertainty.
