    Qatar Shop Finds

Early this week I was fortunate enough to do a portcall in Doha, Qatar. While me and somsome shipmates were walking around the Souq (a middle eastern open market for those who dont know) we ran across a store that looked cool. We went inside and I couldn't believe what we had stumbled upon. The store, if you can even call it that, was loaded with militaria and right in the front was cases full of Third Reich memorabilia. There were some obvious fakes but quite a lot of original items as well.

I wanted to show off some of the pictures I took for the forum . You never know where you might find something!

What a cache of militaria! Hope you bought it all, Sydney!! Back in Manhattan in the late 1960s there were a few places that these pix remind me of!

Happy holidays, my friend; missed you at the last show at the Fair Grounds!

Just curious--what were the prices like?
I assume they were somewhat high since there is most likely very little of this type of thing for sale there?

          James,
Good to hear from you! Unfortunately I didn't buy a thing. I have missed going to shows. I believe the last one I attended was the one we met at!

          Erich,
Very little was actually priced in this store. To me, it had more of a feel to a museum or someone showing off a collection. The US dollar actually was worth something there so it could have been good prices. I let them be though.

Holy moly I was just a few weeks ago in Doha. I would have never imagined to find such stuff there. What’s the name of the souq? Waqif?

Do you guys think that the dry climate actually helps to keep the items in a good / better condition from other parts of the world where humidity is an issue?
