    Any chance whatsoever?

Forum members, I ran into one of these porcelain signs today in an antique shop....It's similar to the white one w/skull & voltage symbol......Mine however has "AUCHTUNG" below that....The dealer didn't have the item priced, and I didn't notice the eagle and swastika on the backside when I first handled it......These had to be pointed out to me by another dealer in the store.....The front on mine looks old and quite believable, but I have never seen a porcelain TR piece with this type of marking on it's back....Are any of these original period pieces or just fantasy?.....The ones shown in the ebay link are laughable but called out as original....Any information appreciated, Bodes

I would be very cautious with a "achtung" sign with an Eagle and swastika on back.

    regards

Mike, Are any of them authentic?....I'm thinking best case scenario is, they are original voltage danger signs w/spurious eagle & swastika added....Bodes

Hello Bodes, I think that these kind of signs are fantasy pieces. Never made during WW2. Perhaps I am wrong, but never seen a period photo with them...

              regards

Thanks guys, I decided against buying....Didn't want to spend $75 on a chance......

Interesting side note Jay.....I was curious as to the possibility they started out as innocent items, than spuriously marked to make them saleable?....Wouldn't rule out pure fantasy however, Bodes
