    Blue court mounted NSDAP medal

    Gents,

    This one is posted up on Facebook. It’s being sold by Ryan Scoreson as an original period done court mounting. I have my doubts to say the least. Looks like someone took a pin off a Tinnie and made this. Love to hear some thoughts on it.

    Maybe I’m wrong and it’s not a put together but then it’s the ugliest home made court mount I’ve ever seen.

    It's not a period done courtmount as all grades of the NSDAP long service award were authorized to be worn together and this would also have the 10 year award mounted with it as well. It seems like an original example though and was probably mounted this way post war just as a way to display it. If the price was right, it would be a nice pickup though as it is what it is.

      So, you are saying that NONE of the 15 year NSDAP MEDALS alone on parade mount is not period ??!!??

        With the exception of the 10 Year NSDAP Long service medal mounted as a single I would say so, as to have the 15 year long service award also meant you had to have the 10 year long service award. Why mount one without the other since they were authorised to be worn together? Generally the idea of wearing medals on a courtmount is to look as "flashy" as possible and to show your achievements, and the wearers would mount as many medals/awards as they were entitled to on a bar.

        Having said that, as with any Third Reich item there is always exceptions to the rule..... I guess a single 15 Year Long Service medal could be period courtmounted but I'd find it odd. It's not totally out of the question, just odd to see a single 15 year only.

        Keep in mind that the one posted is not professionally courtmounted either which adds to me thinking it may have been done post war.

          Technically some medals shouldnt exist as single parade mounts like NSDAP 15 or 25 years, Wehrmacht 12, 18 or 25 years but from what I have seen they do exist. As far as I know manufacturers, medal retailers and military tailor shops used single mounts in displays to show & promote their products/offerings

          I also remember our distinguished member Ron R. posting an absolutely gorgeous NSDAP 10, 15 and 25 year set of singles and a single mount 40 year Wehrmacht here on the forum a while back

                  Thanks for stepping in Ron. YES!!! These are the beautiful NSDAP singles I remember but the Wehrmacht 40 single you posted is different than the one I remember and kept in my archives but you probably have many of those too. Hope you dont mind my using your pictures but attached is the one I was thinking about; a drapery mount single instead of the pinback mount you showed here.
