    Desk eagle authentication and ID

    Hiya,

Does it look legit? Looks like the silver plate is coming off in places which is a good sign of authenticity? It’s 18cm in height. Thank you

Are you happy it’s an original numburg piece then? There’s no markings on the back.

It has a chance, as far as just a single pic allows.

Single pic allows you to tell it is an original bird with a probable flipped out base.

The loss of the silver-plating is frankly a distraction for me when viewing these pix. For example, the close-up photo of the bird's lower body, feet and most of the oakleaf wreath w/swastika appear to me to be too soft -- a condition seen on examples which have been recast from an earlier piece. Also, the back of the bird has little to almost no feather definition, and that has disturbed me in other examples...examples which often are declared to be post-war recastings -- a/k/a fakes.

I think this bird is an original piece. But the condition is not the best and I would wait for a better one if I were You. These birds show up from time to time.
                      Best, Thomas

To me, it is an original piece and on an original base.
