    Unknown pin

    Came with other german items red and black and is maker marked on back, I cannot read maker. 14mm x 9mm any ideas?

    Black, red, gold are the colours of the German Impire till 1918.

    Your pin could be related with it.

          I have no idea about the badge, but wanted to note that Black, Gold, and Red were the German colors during the Weimar Republic, were used by the German Revolutionaries in 1848, by West Germany and are the colors of the united Germany.

            If I may muddy the waters a little, this also looks a bit like the cloth backing for the jump wings worn by the 311th Military Intelligence Battalion (Long Range Surveillance) Detachment starting in 1992. I'm certainly not saying that's what it is, but it is the same design, less the jump wings, of course.

            This information comes from Stein's "U.S. Army Patches, Flashes and Ovals", plate 79, number 5.
