R16 SA collar tabs for review

Picked these up the other day for $2 out of a bag full of US and west German patches. Are they original or repros ? Never had a set before. Not even sure what R stands for.

Brown wool base with black and white piping. Not stiff and bend easily.

The R would be for 'Reserve'. But these tabs are definitely fake. Poorly constructed.

Agree--the piping material is also different. With these photos it's hard to tell whether or not the inner buckram is a type used or not, but they're not original in any case.

                SA tabs

my opinion is that this construction is the same of a generation of twisted piped and unpiped SA tabs that started showing up around the early to mid 80's

Oddly enough there is a single, unpiped example for sale on Ebay right now.

                    sa repro

check jill halcomb's SA book, where there are several examples of these pictured that i believe are 80's repros. no disrespect meant to ms. halcomb.

                      Tabs

A few years ago some schmuck in Colorado had his own RZM shop, selling many fake SA tabs on ebay.

Yes he was. The amount he was peddling out was ridiculous. Myself and a few other members started a thread about it. Throwing in as many pictures of his work as possible, stating his ebay name, etc. He quit shortly thereafter.
