    Identification request.............

    I recently acquired several political / paramilitary collar tabs that I can not identify.
    Can anyone identify them?

    This one is BLACK VELVET with GOLD BULLION litzen & piping.
    It is still on a piece of Black velvet collar.
    Perhaps NSDAP Court related?

    here is the above tab and several others that I can't Identify:
    top right: Black wool, gray litzen, black center stripe
    Possibly Stahlhelm?
    bottom right: Wheat colored HBT, golden yellow wool piping
    Possibly Postschutz for fatigue / work tunic?
    Crimson tab, Reichs level piped, typical gilt eagle & PL pips, but non-standard
    silver litzen w/ swastika .

    Monitors Erich and Jeff have been very helpful in providing their opinions on them;
    I am hoping other learned NSDAP collectors will be able to identify them.

          No, not at the moment, as I am not able to lift maps from the shelves,
          due to a health-problem. When all is okay again, is not known too me!
          I think I may not have answers.

                  The black collar tab is for a RETIRED or HONORARY political leader at reich level. They are somewhat rare at this level. These were authorized from 1934-1939. The black tabs were abolished in 1939 but those that held those ranks could still be seen wearing them well into the war years.

                    Mark, thank you for your identification.
                    I often acquire non-military insignia in lots I buy;
                    Unfortunately, I don't have many books on NSDAP
                    insignia and this one stumped me (and others!)

                    Do you have a reference book you could recommend?

                    Thanks again for your help.

                      Hello Mark,
                      don't remember to have ever seen a political leader tunic with black collar. Are You sure it is for a retired political leader? Any source?
                      Best regards, Thomas

                        Planet:

                        The Black collar tabs are in the NSDAP regulations from 1934-1939. You can find photos and other examples in Jeff Clark's great book "NSDAP Uniforms". Several well known Retired Gauleiters wore them during this period and at least three honorary gauleiters, Jung, Corswant and Kube wore the black tabs into the war years. Below is a link to a pair of retired tabs at Jeff's website.
