This was in a small vet grouping - the cigarette case, a purple heart and a bronze star. Clear signs of an eagle with unusual feathering which was once affixed to the lid. The outline of the eagle is approx. 48 mm wide x 19 mm tall. I was hoping someone might know what organization's eagle was once there. I would like to find a worn example with broken prongs to display with this case.
Case is marked "Duralumin" inside - this was a German invention - a strong aluminum alloy which was first used on the Junkers J 3's air-frame in 1916. I guess it was an interesting novelty metal for a time for lightweight items such as this.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.
