    Building eagle cast iron.

Just wanted to show a Eagle i just picked up, a very nice cast iron bird, presumably from a building ? weighs 30+ pounds (look at scale compared to helmet)

Base is horrible and it is almost falling off, so i will mount it on a new one.

I guess every option is open right now
However i wouldent think it to be a ''fake, fantasy, etc piece''
I would imagine that if someone were to make a fake 3'rd reich eagle, they would mark it with a swastika or some other fancy stuff...
or at least make a more known design ?

Another thing is, i wouldent think a cast piece this size is really that easy to make without having access to a half decend casting/metal factory that can handle 30 pounds of molten steel in one cast ?

THIS appears to be remnants of a very large eagle ...if one could just find a period pic ..... EC

Did you find it locally? I ask because to me it looks more like a stylized Norse piece, like those found on Viking long boats.

Got it from a guy who had it for many years. He found it in Dusseldorf

Sure looks like a remnant off of a very large 3rd Reich eagle to me. A nice display piece nevertheless.

                Best regards,
                Bill

Well, there were not too many Vikings in Düsseldorf, so it's still a mystery. To me, the way the neck is shaped doesn't look like it would be connected to a body. I think it's too long and too curved, but who knows? It will make an interesting research project!
