    German Diplomat or Eastern People's hat badge?

    Hello forum..

    I was wondering if this hat badge is original?

    Not sure if it's diplomat, or eastern peoples? But... if it's fake.. I guess it doesn't really matter.

    thanks for the help. Robert

        Hi Robert

        Not an expert by any streach of the imagination so wait for more enlightened opinions but IMO your bird is a very nice original gilded tombac diplomatic corps eagle based on the weld on the back.

        I remember an old thread here where this RZM variant was discussed and some considered them fake while others had serious reservations about an admin/beamte type insignia being RZM marked (without a maker number) but IMO there are other such anomalies about RZM emblems being plastered on non politcal pieces elswhere (like the M37 beamte eagle which was not used on NSDAP caps or worse: RZM marked Luftwaffe dagger hangers!) that I attribute to maker ignorance/confusion of regulations (or fear of non compliance)

        Cheers

        JC

          Thanks JC

          I hope it's the real deal.... it's a cool looking eagle. Robert

            For me is original.

            Not Diplomatic...is for a RMBO Visor Cap.

            Diplomatic low range use a similar eagle but made in silver.

            Up=RMBO visor cap
            Down=Low Range Diplomatic visor cap

              Well,
              I've got the original dies for these eagles from the Assmann factory. And I can say for sure there is no RZM sign on the backside. But who knows, maybe made by another manufacturer - even though it makes no sense for me.
              Best regards, Thomas

                A related thread/bird: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ral+Government

                As for the die; I highly doubt there was but one maker of these birds.
