I purchased several enamel signs when I was stationed in Germany in the 70s but boy, the fakes have gotten much better. The initial cost would be setting up production and luckily they dumped so many on the market. Thanks Mike.

Hello Mike,

You have presented good evidence and it does warrant all of us to consider that this is a professionally made fake plus an attempt to convince collectors about the aged condition. I have never been comfortable with these and not a fan. the same for some street signs as well. Your investigation is very good, Mike.

The auction describes the item as (I quote word for word)
Oryginal German WWII enamel sign !!! Size 20x25 cm !!
Condition from pictures !!!
Red marker is used ONLY for cover symbol !!!
You received what You see on pictures
I have more enamel signs , if You are interested please write to me !!
Parcel will be send from Poland !!!

Last throw of the card: "Oryginal" and not "Original". : )

I've not collected or studied these plaques in detail but have seen them in person on hand. Sorry but I'm not a fan of this. The font / typeface just seems too modern. I stand by ready to learn from the more experienced folks. Just a different perspective.

Thanks for your observations.....that my friend is as scarey as f**ck ....i find it very upsetting that these sellers will go to these extreme lengths

A new fake sign is out there. In this case NSKK. Three pieces, same pattern of oxidation, etc...
