Drums with this pattern painted on the rims were for the military--Army, Luftwaffe, and I believe KM. Political/NS/civil drums had triangles along their rims. It's a nice example, and better still with the maker's name and date. Many are unmarked.
Looks like an SS drum hanger? Or?

Nice drum. Dated is always a plus!

Heer or KM. Luftwaffe had silver (alum or nickel plated) bodies.

Txs for this great Info, Ss- hanger could be!

I found this info on a Website

A 38cm diameter drum, with skins to either face, separated by a 18cm tall brass surround with upper and lower wooden bands. The bottom skin has a large slice to it, while the top skin shows usage and wear. The thigh brace is riveted to the lower band beneath where the drum hanger would be fitted. Five right-angle metal brackets are equidistantly riveted along both the upper and lower bands, with threaded metal posts fed between them (one screw has a missing cap). These control the tightening of both the upper and lower skins. By a German army order of August 1933, all military snare and side drums were to be painted white on the inside and on top of the wooden drum rings, whilst the outsides should have 39 red lacquered isosceles triangles along the outer edge, with 39 black triangles along the bottom edge, both pointing inwards, with the resulting squares pattern formed between the triangles in white. Marked.

Of course--you are correct! The LW used Alu or nickeled drum bodies.
              Thanks!
