Assistance on a Silver Service Possible Buy

    Hi Folks,

I was attending a local military show and a guy walked in with a bag with a silver plated serving platter w/lid and some silver plated rings with appear to be placed under serving dishes, a silver plated cup holder, silver plated ashtray holder which were made by "WELLNER" and "BRUCKMANN" with numbers...and a German Heer/Political eagle..............he also had other pieces like a silver soup tureen, etc...totaling 12 pieces. He wants to sell..

    I would like your comments

I wouldn't pay too much because the only pieces getting good money are the AH silver services.

Nice pieces by the look of it, but not rare or particularly valuable. Did you get any information on where it was taken from originally?

No... this man,who owns a shop, said a young lady walked in offering him these 12 pcs & a luftwaffe 1st model dagger which he was focused on. He wants a little under $2K for all minus the lift dagger. I appreciate your comments

I agree with Erich and Chris: a nice covered serving dish, though it has no specific association with anyone in particular. It could have been made for an Army or Navy general or admiral, or even a Gauleiter, thought there is no direct link to any notable person. The unique value in such pieces is linked to the individual who owned such an artifact.

2k is a lot for the silverware. I’ve seen people attribute this style to Bormann’s personal service, but I’ve never seen any evidence to support that.

I appreciate everyone’s comments...they sure do look cool but I ‘d probably keep a piece or two and sell the rest ...but as stated..no provedence ..and I saw where AH stuff moved but regular stuff..hmmm.
