    Little Reich Chancellery egg cup

Mohawk Arms' recent auction had a Hepp silver egg cup listed as from the Little (second) Reich Chancellery in Berchstegarden. I have never seen items with the sweeping font of the RK monogram, it is different than the Berlin Chancellery silverware monogram.

Anyone ever seen items from RK2?

    Thanks in advance.

I have also never seen this monogram in reference to the Reichschancellery Annex built under the order of Hans Heinrich Lammers at the Berchtesgaden suburb of Bishop's Meadow (Bischofswiesen). Why such utensils would have been made with other than the official RK monogram escapes me...

      Hi,

to me this is totally fantasy bullsh*t. A poor eggcup that was "pimped", or was originally ordered by a private owner.

Why the RC will pay for such expensive stuff (x a few dozen/hundred copies) to... eat egg ?

      Pictures for the WAF archives.

      See You

I think more Richard Klein than Reichskanzlei

Now THAT'S an interesting suggestion!! I never would have thought of Prof. Klein!

                Thanks Gentlemen.

Prof. Klein, now that is interesting. I only have a rudimentary understanding of his Nazi activities but some of his initials I found on his sculptures bare a slight resemblance to those on the cup. Like I said silverware is not my thing and this will likely convince me to stay out of that part of collecting.

The cup has Gbr. Hepp makers mark but I assume they made a ton of that stuff for high end hotels and not just Nazi contracts.

In reality it could be some well off dude's egg cup from 1937 I guess.

Don't be discouraged, Golheim! Our field of study and artifact collecting is VAST and fraught with fakery, and it is often only with years of experience that some sense can be made of a particular genre. TR silverware is a wonderful focus for study and collecting, but comfort in expertise doesn't come quickly...nor should it!

                  Cheers,

Thanks gentlemen. Love the hobby of owning history. It does come with some risks, as long as they aren't too expensive!!!
