Duties/Job of the Gau Revisor?

A question has come up in the Tinnies forum about the duties of a particular GPB holder. Josef Niemeyer, Mitgl.Nr. 72 187, was the Revisor of Gau Westfalen-Süd. Revisor translates of course as "auditor." Josef Niemeyer's NSDAP file doesn't shed much light - he held previous positions (outside of Kreis/Gau leadership) of Banklehre and Buchhalter, and NSDAP offices including Kassenleiter and Hilfskassenobmann. Just what did a Gau-level Revisor do?

Hello,
a Revisor is responsible for the controlling of accounting - in this case the accounting of the NSDAP. So with his profession it was the right office for the man.

Greg, if you check your copy of the Organisationsbuch der NSDAP, on page 294 you would find that as the Gaurevisor, Pg. Josef Niemeyer was the second most important officer in the Gau Treasury as listed:
1) Gau Schatzmeister and his Deputies
2) Gaurevisor

The Gaurevisor maintained an independent office as auditor of the Gau treasury.

This is confirmed in the decree of 1934 establishing the senior positions of the Reichs Schatzmeister and the Gau Schatzmeister.

Right on the money, Joe!! In the 1943 edition of the "Organisationsbuch der NSDAP" the relevant information is found on p.294-294a.
