    Great AH silverware photo

I wonder where this punch bowl is now

Interesting to see, even back then, pieces like this were going for big money.

"Don't ask me how, but Bob brought this home from Germany – it belonged to Hitler. We are trying to sell it, so far have been offered $2,500. Bob feels it is worth more – some here have been filling it up."

A good question, Chris...and from the lack of responses to your original posting, that tells me that people are also wondering where this piece came from to begin with? It doesn't resemble anything I've ever seen in terms of AH silverware, and the style of the piece does not appear to ring true. I'd want to see the markings on it, too.

Another good question would be: I wonder how many "liberated artifacts" were sent back from Europe by soldiers during and after WWII who believed that such pieces had belonged to Hitler or Göring or...?? It's one thing to believe that a piece with an AH monogram actually belonged to Hitler, but quite another to believe that any piece sent home from WWII originally belonged to AH!

Always skeptical...! "Buy the artifact, not the story that comes with it!"

Looking closely at the photo I can make out what looks to be REICHS followed by what I think is an H

      So “REICHSH...”

      What could that be?IMG_3117.jpg

No idea, Chris. Perhaps if this piece was available for examination now, we might find all sorts of interesting marks on it, but from this one photo -- which appears to have been taken in the 1950s or '60s -- who knows where this piece might be today? If it even still exists?!

Looks more like an award or prize than a punch bowl from a silver service. Too shallow. Looks to me to be "REICHSH..." . Perhaps REICHSHANDELSKAMMER EHRENPREIS?

Thanks Joe. Yes it could be that, although I'm not sure it would fit.

            Maybe it's just "REICHSHANDELSKAMMER"
