    SA Collar Tabs

Just got these in the mail today. Love the color!

I think I saw these for sale, but wasn't too comfortable with them. Are the tabs covered with napped wool or velvet? Can you show photos of the reverses? The piping also is not made like any example of early SA tabs I can remember.

      Appears to be velvet.

Looks velvet to me. The only SA tabs i know to use velvet were the early Sanitäts tabs. Though, I feel like I might have seen others.

Lower rank is on the Veteran’s Footlocker website:

The roughly, 2 3/8", (6cm), tall, 1 3/4", (4.5cm), wide, crimson velvet construction, parallelogram collar tabs features two, gold gilded oak-leaves with small acorns and an extended stem, and a single rank pip in bright, silver/aluminum. The collar tabs have a twisted, bright, silver/aluminum cord piping and are mounted on a tan buckram base. The collar tab shows moderate nap wear to the crimson wool base. Seldom encountered SA-Brigadeführer’s collar tabs....”

The piping color should be gold, like the oak leaves.
            The piping is certainly odd.
Interestingly, the buckrum material looks ok.
There appears to be some kind of glue on the velvet on back?
I'd run away from these if I were you.
PS: Velvet WAS occasionally used by SA officers, but not often.
I have a pair of collar tabs that I know are good - dark green velvet with gold metal oakleaves and gold piping. They're not only rare being velvet, but they're rectangular instead of a parallelogram.
E-mail me at hobie.pirough@aacn.org if you want a photo of them.
