Can you tell if the RPT badges are painted or are they decals?

Hi Erich,
I was trying to figure out if these are painted or decal. I was looking for bumps like on a WWI stein but could not find any. It also does not feel these are decals. Maybe they used some sort of Template to apply the paint. JurgenComment

I think they are probably hand painted by or for an individual who wore both badges.

Like many beer steins of the period, this one appears to carry a political point of view. The phrase on the stein states that: "It also goes without "Hugenberg"" which, together with the RPT logos of 1929 and 1933, seems to be a reference to the leader of the German National People's Party -- one of the numerous political parties in Germany which Hitler campaigned against in the 1931 and 1932 elections -- industrialist and conservative Alfred Hugenberg, who was initially added to the new Chancellor's Cabinet as Reichsminister for Economics as a coalition measure but after political maneuvering and the dust settling as the summer of 1933 came on (and the NSDAP's Congress -- the RPT -- came forth), it was clear by that time that Hugenberg had lost any confidence he may have had in the Reichstag and he, his position in Hitler's Cabinet, and his national party fell from power and position. So, the phrase on this stein came true -- Es geht auch ohne "Hugenberg" -- and the new German government proceeded without Alfred Hugenberg!

My Observations-
1. Design-wise, the Nazi insignias look like an afterthought. The insignia look somewhat out-of-place, IMO.
2. The blue glaze was fired on there nice and thick, but the inscription looks like it was painted on or stenciled after it was made.......leading to the obvious question.........."when"? Perhaps the bottom inscription was added to bolster the authenticity of the Nazi insignia.
3. On the positive side, the Nazi insignia remind me of old decals you'd see on vintage toys..........but yet, the lettering is pretty sloppy. (Antique decal...OR.....decal made in post-war Czechoslovakia?)
4. As an artist, I look for balance, and I keep seeing this mug with the blue glaze only, as the original stein.
Understand, though..........I'm guessing, just like everyone else.Comment

this stein was discovered by me, it came from a house clearance here in Germany.
I guess, it was produced 1933 for the RPT, with a view back to the 1929 RPT.
I guess, Hugenberg was separated from party in mid 1933, and the Nazi had to stand without his money.
The insignia and inscription are 100% authentic.

I liked this stein when m-e-h-t first showed it to us, and I still do! Political pieces that speak of the details of this confusing social period are great to see!
