    Hello everyone,

May I ask for your opinion on this sign?

    Thanks!

    Hi Klaus,
I don't like it at all. No traces of use at the corners and a design I've never seen before.
    Best regards, Thomas

I believe it is original but the damage has been painted over.

Still not convinced. It is known, that such signs are copied. The rust looks new, no real signs of use at the corners but damages on some unimportant spots... And wouldn't we expect to see an RZM stamp on the back of such plates (not that such stamps are not faked...)? In the end the main question for me is if there even were originals of those pieces. I know such a plate is pictured in the book of Gillain/Saris. But still no period picture of such a plate in use. For me the text seems a little short in comparison to the known bigger plates.
            Best, Thomas

              Thanks for your reply.

There is indeed damage which was overpainted. Here are a few more daylight pictures. See "lines" around lettering and eagle. What do you think?
