I don't like the looks of it, but I'll hold my final decision until we hear from Military -- whom I regard as one of our 'expert' members on questions of eagle sculptures.

      Cheers,

      Br. James

It looks to be an original (IMHO)... too bad about the damage.

I believe this bird is an original HB (smooth back version) .

              I also agree with RLIMike,

I guess your definition of expert and mine differ!

"That's what makes horse-races," Tx!! But Michael/Mloppkit is certainly another of my favorite experts on eagle sculptures and I'm happy to see his response, which of course I respect!

Thanks for the kind words Br James but I am just one of many (and may I add expanding number) of enthusiastic eagle sculpture collectors- I am pleased that RLIMIke responded as he certainly knows his eagles.

I understand that you are not the most ardent supporter of 'Flat Back' eagles of any type and regularly call into question the rationale behind a single sided desk sculpture but this one is a classic 'HB' on the correct but damaged 'HB' mounting block as also noted by rlimike. It is not just dented but also missing the M4 threaded mounting studs- we can still see the evidence of where they were located however. I agree that the feather backed versions may be more attractive but nonetheless this is still a scarce original,

                    Cheers,
                    Michael
