Our local shop got in this interesting early photo of an SA unit. I note the early political eagles on the kepis, alternating color/white piping on collars, no standard SA buckles and several of them wear an interesting badge above their left blouse pocket. Through a loop it appears to be an eagle with wide-spread wings perched or atop something. I note that a Standarte 16 "Landshut" tinnie features such an early eagle.

The most visible collar tab bears the unit 21/16. Any ideas as to the badge? Is this SA Standarte 16 "Landshut"?

Could be--there were a lot of Standarte 16s, although not so many prior to 1933, which should be the latest date from which this photo should date (no shoulder board, box buckles, non standard uniform colors/footwear/legwear, etc.). Landshut/Bayrische Ostmark, Köln/Köln-Lindenthal/Niederrhein, Lüneburg/Niedersachsen would be the most likely. The early colors were in some/many cases different to those used after 1933, but I would guess Landshut is the likely area. I suspect the insignia on the pockets might be a day badge/tinnie--there are enough SA day badges on the forum and collectors thereof that an oddly shaped badge like this might be found and help to determine the likely location.

Uniforms

The collar tabs are so light, they may be from SA Gruppe Schlesien....except they had black/white piping.
Maybe it's that Bayerische-Ostmark lt. blue with lt. blue/white piping...like Erich suggested.

It is probably Landshut as that is the area where the guy who picked it up back in the 90s was concentrating during his work over there. I'm going to put it on E-Stand anyway.
